Solo Exhibition Marks Pakistan’s Independence Day Celebration at PNCA

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) radiated with creativity and patriotism as it unveiled a mesmerizing solo exhibition of paintings and drawings by the esteemed artist Ali Azmat on the occasion of Pakistan’s 76th independence anniversary.

The exhibition, organized in collaboration with ForArtSake and curated by Amna I Pataudi and Dr. Rahat Naveed Masood, was inaugurated by President Arif Alvi and Begum Samina Arif Alvi, the first lady of Pakistan. The exhibition showcased Ali Azmat’s exceptional artistic talents, captivating visitors with a vivid portrayal of Pakistan’s history and culture.

With a resounding presence, President Arif Alvi, highlighted the significance of Pakistan’s journey towards independence, stating, “Quaid-e-Azam gifted us Pakistan after an epic struggle for which people paid a heavy price, many with their lives. While we can be proud of the achievements we made as a nation. I do feel that there are some areas where we could do better.”

Ali Azmat’s Exhibition in Other Cities

Ali Azmat’s exhibition, previously showcased in Lahore and soon to grace Gilgit, delved into the country’s intricate political landscape, offering viewers a nuanced perspective. The artist’s adept use of color, aesthetics, and symbolism provided clarity and awareness on diverse facets of Pakistan’s history and identity. A notable highlight of the exhibition was Azmat’s skillful portrayal of changing expressions on the visage of the Quaid-e-Azam, capturing the leader’s emotions ranging from benign smiles to introspective contemplation.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ali Azmat shared his inspiration and intentions, stating, “The affection displayed in these paintings not only expresses my love for our leader but also serves as a humble effort to keep this love alive in the hearts of future generations. As for how successful my efforts have been, I leave that judgment to the observers.”

The exhibition, held at PNCA’s National Art Gallery, resonated with diverse audiences, including artists, students, VIPs, government officials, the press, and the media. Students enthusiastically engaged with the exhibition, interviewing the artist to gain insights into his techniques and artistic practices.
