NEW YORK: South Africa on Monday beat Sri Lanka by six wickets after a superb bowling performance in the first innings in the ICC T20 World Cup match played in New York.
After Klaasen took a single run off the first ball of the over, while Miller hit a four, sealing an impressive win for South Africa.
As Proteas was chasing a lowly target of 78, Opener de Kock scored 20 runs, captain Markram scored 12 runs while Stubbs made 13. Hendricks was dismissed at 4.
Klaasen finished with 19 not out and Miller 6 six not out. South Africa wrapped up the match with 22 balls remaining.
Earlier, Sri Lankan skipper Wanindu Hasaranga won the toss and decided to bat first against South Africa. This was the 4th contest of the mega event and the first one against the big teams.
