ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced that South African top-order batter Rassie van der Dussen will participate in the highly anticipated draft for the league’s 10th edition.
The announcement was made on the official PSL social media channels, showcasing a footage compilation of van der Dussen’s best shots to highlight his skill as well as form.
“South African Batter Rassie van der Dussen returns to the HBL PSL Draft,” read the statement.
No stranger to the PSL
At 35, van der Dussen is a main player in South Africa’s white-ball cricket side. He has represented his nation in eighteen tests, 68 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and fifty Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), amassing a total of 4626 runs across all formats.
In the T20 format, van der Dussen boasts extensive experience, having played about 211 matches. During these outings, he has made 6075 runs at an impressive strike rate of 131.86, including five 100s and 39 fifties, showcasing his ability to dominate in the shortest form of the game.
Van der Dussen is no stranger to the PSL, having made appearances in the mega event of Pakistan previously. In the 2023 and 2024 editions, he also represented Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars, respectively.
Pakistan’s Costal City Gwadar to Host PSL Player Draft
Van der Dussen becomes the third South African player and the 20th international star to register for the PSL 10 draft, which is set to be held in the scenic Gwadar, Balochistan province of Pakistan, on January 11, 2025.
This will be the first time that the coastal city of Pakistan hosts the mega event, saying to the excitement surrounding the league’s milestone season.
Other notable foreign players who have signed up for the draft include Gudakesh Motie, Matthew Short, Luke Wood, Alex Hales, Alex Carey, Sean Abbott, Corbin Bosh, Usman Khawaja, Colin Munro, Rilee Rossouw, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Daryl Mitchell, David Willey, Tom Curran, Jason Roy, Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Dawid Malan, and Sikandar Raza.
