SANTIAGO/ BUENOS AIRES: Chile and Argentina in South America are facing extreme hot temperatures in time which is supposed to be their winters.

Climatologist and Chile’s Environment Minister Maisa Rojas stated what we are facing are two phenomenon; first is global warming trend due to climate change and second is the El Nino factor.

The El Nino factor is there due to an increase in Pacific Ocean temperatures resulting in floods and excessive rainfall besides heat waves in different parts of the world.

“What is happening is extraordinarily abnormal,” stated Climatologist Raul Cordero from Santiago University adding, “Priorly we faced two heat waves a year a decade ago but this time its nine.”

The extreme weather impact is observed in the snow-covered peaks of South America, where glaciers are melting and same goes for the polar region where ice is melting at an alarming rate, especially in Antarctica, where it is at its minimum.
