South Korea Reports 71,476 COVID-19 Cases in Single Day

SEOUL: South Korea reported 71,476 new Covid-19 cases in a single day. The new Covid 19 cases are raising the total number of infections to 27,031,319 so far since the breakout of the infections.

South Korean health authorities said the daily caseload reported on Monday was lower as compared to 72,860 cases reported a week earlier.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the daily average number of new cases stands at 53,815.

Among these new cases, 84 cases were imported from abroad.

Health officials said that 491 people were in critical condition while 41 people died in 24 hours, taking the total toll to 30,454 since the outbreak of the pandemic.

China Covid 19 Cases

Meanwhile, a total of 3,561 were reported in China on Monday, taking the total toll to 34,860 since the beginning of the latest pandemic outbreak.

The National Health Commission of China said in a statement on Tuesday that 2,786 patients were discharged from hospitals across China on Monday.

A total of 5,233 deaths have been reported in China after the latest outbreak.

Malaysia COVID-19 Cases

Malaysia reported 2,465 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Monday, taking the total toll to 4,988,759 after the latest outbreak of cases.

The Malaysian health ministry said that one case was imported from abroad while the remaining 2,464 cases were locally transmitted. 

At least five new deaths have been reported in Malaysia in the latest outbreak, pushing the total death toll to 36,657 since the start of the pandemic.

In Malaysia, 1,719 vaccine doses were administered to masses on Monday alone and 86.1 % of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine and, 84.3 % are fully vaccinated.
