ISLAMABAD: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell organized a seminar on the Right to Self-Determination at the Jammu and Kashmir House on Friday.

Minister Chaudhry Qasim Majeed said that the Kashmiri people steadfastly oppose the Indian Supreme Court’s decision regarding the revocation of the special status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He paid tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir, acknowledging their sacrifices for the establishment of an independent government.

Majeed urged the United Nations to play a vital role in granting the right of self-determination to the Kashmiris, expressing the collective aspiration that Kashmir would eventually accede to Pakistan.

Highlighting the grave human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir, Majeed called upon the international community to exert pressure on India to curtail these abuses.

He expressed confidence that the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people would lead to their independence from India, becoming an integral part of Pakistan. Majeed underscored the commitment of the current government, led by Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar Haq, to make the state a true bastion of freedom.

Mehmood Ahmed Sagar, convener of Hurriyat Conference, echoed the sentiments of the Kashmiri people in exercising their right to self-determination. He called on the international community, including the United Nations, to fulfill their responsibility in this regard.

Sagar highlighted the need for joint efforts between political and Hurriyat leadership to advance the freedom movement and garner support from the diaspora.

The speakers said that the right to self-determination is a fundamental right of Kashmiris, urging the United Nations to play an active role. They underscored the necessity of continuity in the freedom movement, paying tribute to the countless martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause.

The seminar participants stressed the importance of the Kashmiri diaspora in drawing international attention to the ongoing struggle and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the goal of joining Pakistan.
