CHITTAGONG: Sri Lanka’s Lahiru Kumara shone with figures of 4-50 as his team secured a comprehensive 192-run win over Bangladesh in the second Test, sealing a series sweep with a 2-0 victory.

In the final day’s action in Chittagong, Kumara’s final wicket of Khaled Ahmed marked the end of Bangladesh’s resistance, as they fell short chasing an imposing target of 511 runs in their second innings.

Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz fought valiantly, remaining unbeaten on 81, but lacked support as Sri Lanka’s bowlers dominated proceedings.

With Sri Lanka in control from the outset, Mehidy’s brisk half-century provided some consolation for Bangladesh, although his efforts couldn’t prevent defeat.

Kamindu Mendis, Sri Lanka’s all-rounder, impressed with both bat and ball, contributing 3-32 with the ball and an unbeaten 92 in the first innings, earning him the man of the match award and the player of the series title.

Reflecting on the series, Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva praised his team’s performance, highlighting the contribution of both batsmen and bowlers.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto acknowledged his team’s batting struggles, stressing the need for introspection and more first-class cricket.

Sri Lanka’s victory not only sealed the Test series but also marked a successful tour, having also won the T20 series while losing the one-day international series. Bangladesh will now prepare to host Zimbabwe for a series of T20 matches in May ahead of the T20 World Cup.
