SYLHET: The first Test match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium witnessed a fascinating display of bowling prowess on Saturday, as Sri Lanka claimed a commanding 211-run lead over the hosts.

In an action-packed day, a total of 12 wickets tumbled, showcasing the dominance of the bowlers on a challenging pitch.

Bangladesh, who resumed their first innings at 32/3, managed to add 156 runs to their overnight score, with Tajiul Islam displaying resilience with the bat. However, the hosts suffered early setbacks, losing Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shahadat Hossain in quick succession, slipping to 83/5.

Tajiul Islam then anchored Bangladesh’s innings with wicketkeeper Litton Das, forging a crucial partnership of 61 runs for the sixth wicket. However, their resistance was broken by Lahiru Kumara, who dismissed Das after a resilient 25-run knock.
