ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Saturday that Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has returned to Pakistan’s Test cricket squad for the two-match away series against the Sri Lanka cricket team next month.
The national cricket selection committee has included uncapped batter Mohammad Huraira and all-rounder Aamir Jamal in the 16-strong squad for what will be Pakistan’s first assignment in the third cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.
The squad has been designed considering the conditions the cricket team will encounter in Sri Lanka, and the board mentioned in a statement that the men’s cricket team boasts four spinners, six specialist batters, four fast bowlers, and two keeper-batters.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka last played a Test cricket series in July 2022 that was drawn 1-1.
Pakistan would assemble in Karachi on 3 July for a camp before they depart for Sri Lanka cricket team on July 9. Sri Lanka Cricket will announce the tour itinerary in due course.
