ISLAMABAD: As many as 44 overseas players from eight countries have been chosen for the exciting 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), kicking off from April 8, 2025 in Pakistan.
The month-long event will conclude on May 19.
Originally, planned for the port city of Gwadar in Pakistan’s largest province Balochistan, the PSL 2025 draft ceremony was held at Hazuri Bagh, Lahore, on Monday, in which the Platinum Category list includes many renowned international names, such as David Warner, Chris Lynn, Usman Khawaja, Matthew Short, Kane Williamson and Tim Southee.
Emerging talent Cooper Connolly, who earned his maiden call-up in Australia’s Test squad for their Sri Lanka tour, also features in the Platinum ranks.
Karachi Kings acquired Australian explosive batter David Warner, New Zealand speedster Adam Milne and young local pacer Abbas Afridi in the Platinum category for the PSL 10 Player Draft.
The dynamic all-rounder has established himself as a pivotal figure in the PSL. Since his debut in 2017, he has donned the jerseys of Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans, showcasing his versatility with both bat and ball.
Karachi Kings kicked off the PSL Draft with the blockbuster first pick as they selected the dynamic David Warner. Known for his explosive batting style, Warner has established himself as a formidable force at the top of the order across all formats of cricket.
Representing Australia, he has participated in 110 T20 Internationals, amassing an impressive total of 3,277 runs, which includes a remarkable century and 28 half-centuries.
Following Warner’s selection, the franchise then turned its attention to the second round, securing the services of Adam Milne, a fast bowler known for his speed and agility. Since making his debut for New Zealand in 2012, Milne has played 53 T20 Internationals, claiming 57 wickets at a commendable average of 24.98.
He has carved out a niche as one of New Zealand’s quickest bowlers, often leaving batters in awe of his pace. Milne’s extensive participation in international leagues adds to his resume, having made appearances in the Big Bash League, The Hundred Men’s Competition, the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the Vitality Blast.
Karachi Kings rounded out their Platinum picks with the talented Abbas Afridi, who has quickly become a key player for Pakistan’s T20I team. Afridi boasts an impressive record, having taken 30 wickets in just 18 matches for the national team.
Islamabad United picked England’s Sam Billings as their second Supplementary pick. Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will partner David Warner and Shan Masood after getting picked up by Karachi Kings in the Supplementary round of PSL 2025 draft.
West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph will join Peshawar Zalmi. Quetta Gladiators picked the Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis. Multan Sultans picked the fearless Caribbean opener Johnson Charles.

Islamabad United got Australia’s Riley Meredith in the Supplementary category first pick. Ireland’s Josh Little is back at Multan Sultans while New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson got picked by Lahore Qalandars.
Defending champions Islamabad United have picked American wicketkeeper Andries Gous in the silver round. The Bangladeshi fast bowler who impressed in the Test series against Pakistan got roped in by Peshawar Zalmi. Australia’s Ben Dwarshuis was selected by Islamabad United in the Gold round of the PSL Draft.
Islamabad United also picked West Indian Jason Holder. New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell was the first pick of the PSL 2025 draft, selected by Lahore Qalandars. Mark Chapman will feature for Quetta Gladiators in his maiden PSL campaign.
Michael Bracewell, with 27 T20Is under his belt, joined Multan Sultans. Fast bowler Adam Milne was picked by Karachi Kings while explosive top-order batter Finn Allen will represent Quetta Gladiators’ colours.
Australia’s Matthew Short became Islamabad United’s platinum pick of the day. Michael Bracewell became the third BlackCaps cricketer picked that day who will head to Multan.
