KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday unveiled potential designs for new banknotes of all denominations, local media reported.
The potential designs have been shortlisted from different designs submitted by the citizens in an art competition hosted by the SBP.
The central bank in a statement announced the successful conclusion of the Art Competition for the designs of the new banknote series. The bank appreciated the local artists and designers who took part in the competition showcasing their creativity and talent in this important venture.
The SBP said that the designs were shortlisted after extensive evaluation process conducted by a committee of experts from relevant fields.
The bank added that the shortlisted designs of new bank notes are suggestive in nature and are being shared with international designers who have been working with the central bank.
The international designers along with the SBP officials will finalise the designs for the new currency note series.
“The International designers, while drawing inspiration from the local art submissions, will, however, be free to employ their own design expertise and imagination to create final designs for the new banknotes series,” the central bank added.
It SBP said it will ensure that the new banknote series shows the rich cultural heritage and progressive vision of the Pakistani nation.
The statement said all winners will be awarded prize money, as per the earlier announcement, to applaud their contribution to this vital national project.
