KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) would announce monetary policy on Monday, next week (January 29), 2024 and would decide about any possible change of the interest rate.
This was disclosed via a statement issued by the SBP, here on Wednesday, stating that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the central bank would meet on 29th of this month to decide any future plan about Monetary Policy.
The monetary policy would be announced by Governor SBP, Jameel Ahmad via a press conference on the same day after the MPC meeting, the statement added.
Last Monetary Policy
The Monetary Policy Committee of SBP, in its last meeting on December 12, 2023, had placed the policy rate unchanged at 22 % whereas a slight decline was predicted, however it was announced without any change.
The upcoming policy is also expected to be either place at the same level or with a slight decline along with a focus to continue with the tight monetary policy stance and measures for fiscal consolidation.
