ISLAMABAD: The MDCAT conducted by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) on September 22, 2024, has kindled significant problem among students due to the release of only the answer key, without corresponding question papers.
Many students have reported errors in the key, leading to substantial drops in their scores and raising concerns about fairness in the examination process. For the past two days, students have been demanding the release of the question paper, a corrected key, and grace marks for the wrongly included MCQs. However, today SZABMU issued a notification granting only 6 grace marks, citing “high difficulty level.” But this was never the students’ demand, many students said. The real problem is the incorrect key, the failure to upload the question paper, and out-of-syllabus or incorrect MCQs, which reportedly affect 25-30 questions, according to the students and their parents.
This inconsistency is critical, they added. With results like these, many deserving students may miss out on admissions, some of the students believed. Is this fair? the students asked. If SZABMU is confident in their key, why are they hesitating to upload the question paper, their parents questioned.
Students urge officials and authorities to take immediate action to save the future of the deserving students.
