Success Lies in the Teachings of the Holy Quran, Says VC AIOU

ISLAMABAD: Vice-Chancellor (VC)of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood on Friday said that success lies in truly following the teachings of the Holy Quran.

While addressing the Khatam al-Qur’an ceremony on the 25th night of Ramadan at the University’s Colony Mosque, he highlighted that the Quran encompasses guidance for both worldly achievements and spiritual fulfilment. Dr. Nasir emphasized that merely reading and comprehending the Quran isn’t sufficient; living in accordance with its principles is imperative.

During the ceremony, Dr. Nasir Mahmood announced the forthcoming construction of a dedicated women’s hall on the mosque’s upper floor, responding to a request from the mosque administration. The event commenced with Naat Khawani, featuring recitations by Muhammad Abu Bakr Jamshed, Muhammad Hasan, and Rayan Wazir, followed by Qari Wasal Ahmad’s completion of the recitation of the Holy Quran during Taraweeh prayers. Special prayers were offered for the nation’s security, the University’s progress, and the plight of the oppressed Palestinians.

Furthermore, Vice Chancellor AIOU, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, addressed the audience at the launch ceremony of the statistical report on non-formal education for the year 2020-21.

Expressing concern, he highlighted that despite seven decades of progress, 26.2 million children remain out of school. Dr. Nasir emphasized that achieving a literacy rate of 75 percent could propel the country towards development and stressed the importance of collaborative endeavours to integrate out-of-school children into the education system.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, JICA, Pakistan Institute of Education and Allama Iqbal Open University.
