A statement by Sudan’s officials said General al-Burhan’s discussions in Algeria will cover bilateral ties and matters of mutual concern. Sunday’s trip comes at a time when Sudan has been mired by war between the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group since April 2023.

Over 13,000 people have been killed, 26,000 others wounded and about 7.6 million displaced since the outbreak of the Sudanese war last year, UN said.
