ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has constituted a three-member bench to hear the plea of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case on Wednesday, August 23.

Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial will head the three member bench, and other members include Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail.

The Chairman of PTI, who is currently in Attock Jail, has lodged an appeal with the Supreme Court challenging the ruling of the Islamabad High Court. The Islamabad High Court had referred the matter concerning the maintainability of the criminal case back to the additional session court, which subsequently sentenced Imran Khan to three years in prison and a five-year disqualification from holding public office.

In his petition to the apex court, the former Prime Minister requested the court to declare the judgment and sentence by the trial court as “illegal.”

The petition said that the appellant’s conviction and sentence is unlawful and to be declared illegal and requested the apex court to declare the appellant innocent of the charges brought against him.
