LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has admitted that the cricket affairs were in a mess and major decisions needed to be taken to set the house in order.

Speaking to media persons, Mohsin Naqvi highlighted several matters one of which was related to possible steps after Pakistan’s dismal performance in the T20 World Cup.

Will Babar Aam Stay?

Chairman PCB made it clear that he would not take any action in haste and Babar Azam’s future as skipper would be discussed with cricket experts. He stated that major decisions would not be in the hands of armchair critics – a reference to critics who criticize the players and management on social media and TV channels. He was of the view that no decision should be taken in haste and desperation. He added that he is in touch with former cricketers who wanted to see Pakistan regain their lost glory in cricket.

Pakistan Cricket Board Will Not Run on Social Media

A visibly annoyed Mohsin Naqvi said he would not permit the all-important PCB to be run on social media. He said he was not bothered regarding the barrage of criticism against him on social media. He hinted at action against the selection committee which also came under fire following team’s unceremonious exit from the T20I world cup.

He said he would meet head coach Gary Kirsten and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood to hold discussion on the team’s performance and future course of action. Naqvi added that head coach has submitted a detailed report on team’s performance during the mega event. He said that he is aware of the allegations regarding grouping and politics in the national team. He remarked that no one would be allowed to play league cricket anywhere before Bangladesh series. He informed the media that the Test matches against Bangladesh would be played in Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
