RIYADH: The 2024 Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals, which is organized by the Saudi Tennis Federation, supervised by the Kingdom Ministry of Sport and sponsored by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), continued on Sunday in Riyadh, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Two doubles matches were played at King Saud University, the SPA added. Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe defeated Hao-Ching Chan and Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova in straight sets. Italian Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini defeat US Desirae Krawczyk and Caroline Dolehide in three sets.
In the Singles Category, Poland’s Iga Świątek claimed a win over Czech player Barbora Krejčíková, triumphing in a three-set game in the opening Orange Group match. American Coco Gauff also defeated her compatriot Jessica Pegula in straight sets, according to the SPA.
US Coco Gauff stated staying focused was key to her victory, and that her resolve to improvement fueled her performance, the SPA further said.
