Switzerland Considers Investment in Pakistan’s Herbal Medicine Sector

ISLAMABAD: Switzerland herbal medicines company Herbamed AG has expressed a strong interest in entering the Pakistani market and establishing business collaborations in the field of herbal medicines.

A delegation from Herbamed AG, led by Managing Director Christoph Züllig, visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to discuss potential areas of mutual cooperation, said a press release issued on Thursday.

Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President of ICCI, highlighted the thriving global herbal medicines industry, with the market projected to reach $107 billion by 2024. Bakhtawari urged Pakistan and Switzerland to forge a robust collaboration, facilitating the sharing of expertise and technology for herbal medicine manufacturing, with the aim of exporting quality products worldwide.

Bakhtawari said that Pakistan has established Specialized Investment Facilitation Center (SIFC), mandated to frame economic policies and assist foreign investors and encouraged Swiss investors to explore joint ventures and investment opportunities in the country. ICCI pledged its support in connecting Swiss investors with suitable partners in Pakistan.

Christoph Züllig, Managing Director of Herbamed AG, provided insights into his company’s herbal medicines designed for various ailments, underlining their efficacy with no side effects. Züllig expressed the company’s intent to penetrate the Pakistani market and contribute to addressing health issues with high-quality, side-effect-free products. He presented a detailed overview of Herbamed AG and its product line, expressing hope for collaboration with ICCI to explore business partnerships in Pakistan.
