NEW YORK: Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited Canada to bat first in a Group A match in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Tuesday.

Pakistan, after two back-to-back defeats to the US and arch-rival India, must win this game to keep its chances of advancing to the Super Eight round alive.

Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, are coming on the back of consecutive defeats, their chances of qualifying for the Super Eight round of the T20 World Cup 2024 look quite slim.

Canada have also played two matches, winning one and losing one in the mega event. They started with a seven-wicket defeat to co-hosts US on the opening day of the mega event, but followed that up with a spectacular bowling display to beat Ireland by 12 runs.

A win for the Canadian side against Pakistan will keep their hopes alive, whereas a defeat for Pakistan would mean they will all but be eliminated.
