LAHORE: Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman, on Thursday called for the observance of ‘Solidarity Day with Palestine’ worldwide.
Addressing a conference to express solidarity with Palestine at the Jamea Manzoor-ul-Islamia in Lahore, Ahrafi appealed to the government to officially declare and observe this day at the government level.
He urged political leaders and all segments of society to participate in rallies and seminars in person to express solidarity with the Palestinian brethern.
Ashrafi underscored the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, which has resulted in a blockade and disruption of food and medical supplies.
He praised Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Turkey, and the Oragnization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for their diplomatic efforts to address the Palestine situation.
Ashrafi stressed the need for Muslim nations to unite and stand in solidarity with the Palestinians, as they have demonstrated resilience against Israeli oppression.
He also urged the nation to boycott Israeli products and take an active role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
Ashrafi also thanked Russia and China for their clear-cut stance on the Palestinian issue.
Sovereign, independent Palestinian state only solution
In his concluding remarks, he said that the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestinian state was the only acceptable solution.
he expressed hope that the world would eventually recognize and accept a free Palestinian state.
Prominent religious scholars, including Muhammad Aslam Siddiqui, Peer Ibrahim Khalil, Muhammad Aslam Qadri, Maulana Asadullah Farooq, Qari Mubashir Rahimi, and Maulana Ibrahim Hanfi also addressed the audience.
