ISLAMABAD: Speakers at the first Dushanbe International Tourism Exhibition (DITE) declared Tajikistan the premier tourism destination in Central Asia, highlighting its appeal to regional countries, including Pakistan.
During the expo, which took place from September 25 to 27, 2024, at the Dushanbe Expo Center, Pakistani businessmen and industrialists showcased various stalls and engaged in industrial and commercial activities. Participants from sectors such as handicrafts, tourism, and hospitality established business agreements with representatives from the Tajikistan Chamber of Commerce.
Tajikistan’s Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Ahliddin Nuriddinzoda, emphasized the innovative strides being made in the tourism sector, reflecting the vision of President Imam Ali Rehman. He said that tourism plays a vital role in the Tajik economy and highlighted opportunities in cultural, health, and adventure tourism.
Chairman of the Committee of Tourism Development, Kamoliddin Muminzod, added that Tajikistan’s diverse landscape, featuring mountains, glaciers, rivers, and lakes, positions it well for various types of tourism. He stated that Dushanbe serves as the gateway to the country’s tourism and outlined the government’s efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure, guided by the Tourism 2030 vision under Mayor Rustam Emomali.
Last year, Tajikistan welcomed over one million tourists, underscoring tourism’s significant contribution to the national economy.
DITE-2024 coincided with World Tourism Day and was initiated by Rustam Emomali, the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan. The event saw participation from representatives of over 16 countries, 20 foreign companies, and more than 90 domestic firms, highlighting its international significance.
The exhibition aimed to strengthen ties among Tajikistan’s tourism entities, particularly in Dushanbe, while promoting the country’s natural, cultural, and wellness tourism potential. Organizers expressed gratitude to all participants, especially “Somon Travel,” “King Tour,” and “Diyor Travel,” for their vital contributions to the event’s success.
Furthermore, the exhibition featured an International Tourism Forum and B2B meetings, leading to the signing of new cooperation agreements in the tourism sector. Participants also explored Dushanbe’s tourist attractions, including the Istiklol Complex, and enjoyed a cultural and entertainment program in celebration of World Tourism Day.
DITE-2024 marks a significant milestone in the development of tourism in Tajikistan, creating new opportunities for attracting foreign tourists and investments while strengthening international tourism ties.
