ISLAMABAD: The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda said on Wednesday that the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting in Pakistan aims to foster and strengthen relationships among SCO member countries.
He emphasized the significance of Tajikistan and Pakistan as key members of the SCO, noting their geographical proximity, which is vital for economic and trade integration within the organization. According to Ambassador Sharifzoda, the role of Central Asian nations, including Pakistan, is crucial in enhancing relations among SCO countries moving forward.
The ambassador highlighted that Tajikistan’s Prime Minister, Qohir Rasulzoda, is participating actively in the meeting, where discussions are underway to enhance bilateral relations. He described the SCO as an emerging economic platform essential for the future geo-economic relationships of its member states.
During the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting, a bilateral meeting took place between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and Prime Minister Rasulzoda. They discussed ways to deepen cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, and regional connectivity.
Ambassador Sharifzoda conveyed that Prime Minister Rasulzoda expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended by Pakistan during the SCO CHG meeting and congratulated Pakistan on its role as chair of the organization.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing mutually beneficial cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan during the SCO discussions.
