Tajikistan’s President, Kyrgyzstan’s FM Hold Talks on Bilateral Cooperation

BISHKEK, KYRGYZSTAN: Emomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan and Jeenbek Kulubaev, the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister discussed important issues in bilateral relations of both countries, Trend reports.

Kulubaev underscored the significance of advancing Kyrgyzstan’s bilateral relations with Tajikistan, emphasizing it as a top priority in Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy. He updated President Rahmon on the progress made in implementing agreements between the two countries’ leaders, covering areas such as political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.

The discussions also encompassed the future prospects for collaboration between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, touching upon political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Additionally, the parties exchanged perspectives on joint efforts to counter international terrorism and extremism. They also addressed matters related to cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the UN, CIS, CSTO, and SCO.

As part of the official visit, Kulubaev paid respects by laying a wreath at the monument of Tajikistan’s founder, Ismoil Somoni. He, along with a Kyrgyz delegation, visited the Rogun hydroelectric power plant to assess the progress of its construction.

The official visit, which took place on February 4, 2024, included the signing of a cooperation program between the foreign ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan for the period 2024–2026, following the meeting with Tajikistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
