EDINBURGH: The fans of global pop sensation Taylor Swift last weekend cheered and danced so much at three concerts in Edinburgh that seismic activity was noted by the British Geological Survey (BGS).

The seismic activity was detected by monitoring stations in the area of 6 kilometres. The fans caused the most commotion during three songs- “Ready For It?”, “Cruel Summer” and “Champagne Problems.”

It also showed that the 73,000-people crowd yelled, danced, and stomped the loudest of the three performances in the Scottish city. It was the first of Swift’s 17 UK concerns, which will end at London’s Wembley Stadium.

According to the Seismograph data analysis, the most dancing took place on June 7. The BGS stated crowds on every night generated their own significant readings.

It said the vibrations generated by the concert were unlikely to have been felt by anyone other than those in the immediate area.

The BGS said that during the song “Ready For It?,” the activity reached at peak with 160 beats per minute (bpm), with the crowd generating approximately 80 kW of electricity, which is comparable to 10–16 car batteries.

According to the Western media reports the Friday night event was the most energetic, recording 23.4 nanometres of movement.

Callum Harrison, a seismologist with BGS, said the organization was able to measure the reaction of thousands of fans remotely through its data. He said the opportunity to explore seismic activity created by a different kind of phenomenon has been a thrill.
