TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Minister has warned UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres that his country is ready for a “decisive and regretful” reply if Israel strikes his country in retaliation for a missile strike.
Iran fired around 200 missiles at Israel on October 1 in revenge for the killing of two of its allies, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, as well as an Iran’s general.
Israel’s Minister for Defense Yoav Gallant warned last week that his country’s retaliatory action would be “precise, deadly, and surprising.”
In a telephonic conversation, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told the UN chief that Iran is completely prepared for a decisive and regretful reply to any adventures by Israel.

During the phone call on Tuesday evening, Iran’s FM appealed to the UN to use its resources “to stop the aggressions and crimes of the Israeli regime and to send humanitarian help to Gaza and Lebanon.”
Over the past week, the Iranian top diplomat has visited Lebanon, Syria, Qatar, Oman and Iraq in an effort to ease tensions. Araghchi has arrived in Jordan before traveling to Egypt and Turkey, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said in a statement on social media.
The recent developments come against the backdrop of a conflict between Israel and Hamas that has been raging for more than a year and has extended to include Lebanon in recent days.
