DUBAI: In its latest update, Telegram, the widely used messaging app, has introduced an innovative feature aimed at replicating real-life conversations. Users can now send one-time voice and video messages, adding an ephemeral and concise touch to communication.

The update allows users to create view-once messages by swiping up to lock recording, tapping on the view-once icon, and sending messages that automatically delete after playback. This feature contributes to a more dynamic conversational experience, as recipients are unable to replay or save these messages.

A small ‘1’ appears to indicate the one-time nature of the message, and once played, it cannot be paused, rewound, and disappears upon completion.

However, it’s essential to note that recipients can still record these messages for future listening, offering a balance between privacy and flexibility.

In addition to the one-time messages, Telegram has introduced another update providing users with the ability to see the exact time when messages in one-on-one chats were opened. Privacy settings have been expanded to include control over the Last Seen status for specific contacts.

Free users will also benefit from the update, enjoying new shared contacts designs, and improved video messages on iOS with clearer quality, faster camera switching, and reduced camera shake. macOS users will find 15 new icons to match themes and stand out in the dock.

For Telegram Premium subscribers, the update offers even more enhancements, such as faster video stories, private message permissions to receive messages only from contacts and premium users, one-way last-seen and read times, and tags to facilitate sorting saved messages.

These additions contribute to an enriched user experience, catering to both free and premium users with a focus on enhanced privacy and functionality.
