NEW YORK: Ten people were killed and thirty-eight wounded in mass shootings in Philadelphia, Fort Worth, and Baltimore ahead of the 4 July holiday, prompting a fresh call from President Joe Biden to pass gun control law.

In Fort Worth, three people were killed and eight injured in a mass shooting after a local festival to mark the US Independence Day holiday, police informed on Tuesday.

In a separate mass shooting incident in Philadelphia on Monday evening, 5 people were killed and two were injured, including two and 13-year-old boys, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

The incident came a day after two people were shot dead and twenty-eight others wounded, about half of them children, during a party in Baltimore.

The purpose in all three shootings remained unclear.

US struggles with mass shootings

The US is struggling with repeated mass shootings and gun violence incidents.

There have been more than 340 mass shootings in the country so far this year, according to data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive.

Biden condemned the violence on Tuesday and reiterated his call to tighten the US gun laws.

He said in a statement that the US has once again endured a series of tragic and senseless shootings. The Republican congressmen should come to the table for meaningful and commonsense reforms.

Citing constitutional protections for gun ownership, Republican legislators have generally prevented attempts to reform gun safety laws and oppose Biden’s drive to reinstate a restriction on assault weapons.
