RABAT: Tens of thousands of Moroccans protested in Rabat on Sunday in support of Palestinians and against the Israeli military offensive in Gaza a day ahead of the October 7 attack anniversary.
The demonstrators gathered near Morocco’s parliament and waved Palestinian flags, amid chants of “Resistance does not die”.
Khadija Mokhtari, a 56-year-old retiree and one of the protesters, called the Palestinian cause a “national issue” for Moroccans. “We are here to stand against the injustice and genocide faced by Palestinians,” Mokhtari said.
Another protester, Noufissa Souad, aged 39, voiced her concern about the ongoing violence in Palestine. “They are killing the Palestinian people for their land,” she said.
Sunday’s protest was organized by the National Action Group for Palestine, which includes leftist political organizations and the Islamist Justice and Development Party.

The demonstration occurred just a day before the first anniversary of the October 7 attack carried out by Hamas against Israel in 2023.
Since October 7 last year, Israel has launched a relentless bombardment campaign in Gaza killing at least 41,870 Palestinians, mostly women and children, according to the health ministry in Gaza. These figures have been deemed reliable by the United Nations.
Protesters at the rally also waved Lebanese flags and held up portraits of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
