KARACHI: A suspected terrorist was killed and two others sustained injuries in a hand grenade explosion in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Haji Lemo Goth on Wednesday, local media reported.
According to Deputy Inspector General Police (DIG) East Captain (retd) Ghulam Azfar Mahesar, as reported by local media, the perpetrator of the blast was carrying a grenade, which exploded in his hand, injuring two persons, including a minor girl.
The DIG further said that the person killed in the explosion is suspected to be the one who held the grenade.
The incident comes hours after Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) senior leader Hafiz Hamdullah survived an assassination attempt in the Chaman area of Balochistan as the run-up to Pakistan’s general elections.
Earlier in the day, at least 28 people were killed, and 50 were injured in two separate blasts in Baluchistan’s Qilla Saifullah and Pishin areas.
Following the incidents, the Balochistan provincial government announced a three-day mourning to mourn the loss of lives in both attacks.
