ISLAMABAD: Tesla, the US company known for its electric vehicles worldwide has announced to provide free software update to fix the warning light issue in its cars. Earlier, the automaker led by Elon Musk, currently the richest man on Earth, was reported to be recalling almost 0.7 million vehicles due to a warning light issue.
AP reported Tesla is recalling almost 700,000 vehicles because of an issue with the warning light on the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
According to a letter Thursday from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall includes certain 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3, and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles.
The issue is that the TPMS warning light on the vehicles may not remain illuminated between drive cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tyre pressure. Driving with improperly inflated tyres can increase the risk of a crash.

21 per cent of all US recalls
Tesla’s vehicles accounted for 21 per cent of all US recalls in the first three quarters of the year, according to recall management firm BizzyCar. However, most issues for the brand’s cars were usually resolved with over-the-air software updates, Reuters reported.
Tesla recalled 1,858,774 vehicles in the September quarter, the highest in the US, but issues in all them could be rectified through software updates.
The company recalled 2,400 Cybertruck units in the US in November because a faulty part could lead to a loss of power and increase the risk of a crash, marking the sixth such move for its electric pickup truck this year, Reuters added.
