TEHRAN:  Months-old photos of a U.S. police helicopter crash in Texas have been misrepresented on social media as a May 19 helicopter crash in Iran that killed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions.  Two photos posted on different platform of social media show a white helicopter with the registration number “N204TX” and captioned: “‎The debris of Raisi’s helicopter has been found.”

But they are in fact photos of a U.S. police helicopter that crashed in Texas January. As per media reports, President Raisi’s helicopter was a Bell 212, and images provided to different section of media of the craft taking off show a white-and-blue twin-blade aircraft with no noticeable registration number below its rotor mast.  The photos show a crashed helicopter in Texas in January and are unrelated to the crash that killed Iran’s president Raisa in May 2024.
