WASHINGTON: Adult film star Stormy Daniels has said that while she wants the former US president to be “held accountable” she doesn’t believe he should go to prison.
In her first major interview with Fox Nation’s Piers Morgan since Donald Trump’s indictment, and released on Thursday, Stormy Daniels said, “I don’t think that his crimes against me are worthy of incarceration. I feel like the other things that he has done, if he is found guilty, absolutely,” Daniels (44) said in the interview.
Daniels sat down with Morgan for the 1.5 hour interview, which she called her most extensive yet. In a tweet, she thanked people for “love and support”, saying the segment “laid to rest a lot of misinformation”.
When asked how it felt to see Donald Trump appear in the court, the adult film start said she was “shocked”. “I thought he was going to get away with not being accountable,” she said and added “The king has been dethroned – he’s no longer untouchable,”. “Nobody should be untouchable, doesn’t matter what your job description is – whether you’re the president – you should be held responsible for your actions.”
Regularly receiving threats: Stormy
Stormy Daniels postponed the original schedule of her interview with Morgan last week citing “security concerns” as she said that she was also regularly receiving threats. She told Morgan that one in ten messages she receives now are death threats, and that the tone was becoming increasingly violent. “It’s like a suicide bomber,” she said. “In the depths of their soul, they feel like they’re doing the right thing.”
The adult film star is one of the two women Donald Trump is accused of giving hush money to that resulted in 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Trump turned himself in to court Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Trump (76) also faces criminal investigations in Washington for trying to overturn his 2020 election loss and mishandling classified documents, besides a separate criminal investigation in Georgia about his attempt to overturn his defeat in the state.
Trump’s indictment marks the first time a sitting or former United States president has been charged with criminal activity. The front-runner in the race for the Republican nomination in 2024, Donald Trump denies having an affair with Daniels but has acknowledged the payment. Daniels said in her interview that if she is called to testify she would “look forward to it”.
