WASHINGTON: The US authorities on Saturday announced the arrest of 3 people wanted in connection with the January 6, attack on the US Capitol, as the US marked the 3rd anniversary of the violent assault by Donald Trump’s supporters.

Olivia Pollock, Joseph Hutchinson and Jonathan Pollock were captured early Saturday at a ranch in the southern US state of Florida, the FBI said. The accused will appear Monday in the court in the central city of Ocala.

The three accused face several charges, including attacking and resisting officials as well as disorderly conduct on the US Capitol grounds.

The FBI had also offered a $30,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Jonathan Pollock. Earlier in a statement, Justice Department said Pollock had attacked several police officials on January 6. It added Hutchinson had also punched several officers on January 6.

About 1,300 people have so far been charged in connection with the Capitol riot, which prosecutors have called an insurgency aimed at keeping Donald Trump in the White House.

Donald Trump, who is seeking a 2nd term in the Oval Office, himself is facing charges over his alleged attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 elections and his role in the January 6 attack.

According to poll released this week, 39 percent of the US nationals believe the attack on the Capitol was the outcome of a plot hatched by the FBI.
