Three Soldiers Martyred During Exchange of Fire with Terrorists in DI Khan: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Three soldiers were martyred, and three terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in the Saggu area of Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military said on Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Monday-Tuesday night, terrorists opened fire on a Police check post in the general area of Khutti in Dera Ismail Khan district.

ISPR said that after receiving the information, security forces immediately cordoned off the area, blocking all possible escape routes, ISPR said. The fleeing terrorists were intercepted in the Saggu area of Dera Ismail Khan.

According to ISPR, after an intense exchange of fire, three terrorists were killed. Ammunition and weapons were also recovered from the killed terrorists.

However, during the intense exchange of firing, Havaldar Muhammad Azhar Iqbal (age 42 years, resident of Lodhran), Sepoy Muhammad Essa (age 22 years, resident of South Waziristan), Naik Muhammad Asad (age 34 years, resident of Khanewal) and having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom, ISPR said in a statement.

Clearance operation of the area is being carried out to completely eliminate any terrorists found in the area, ISPR said.

Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism, and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve, ISPR said.
