ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that after the successful negotiations with the government, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) had called off its “Pakistan Bachao March” (Save Pakistan March).
Addressing a press conference along with TLP’s leader Shafiq Amini on Saturday, the Interior Minister said that after the second round of talks, all important matters were settled with the TLP.
Rana Sana said that the talks were mainly focused on protecting the Prophethood and curbing blasphemy which remains integral to every Muslim’s faith.
TLP’s Demands
Regarding the TLP’s demand over the release of Aafia Siddiqui (from the US prison), the minister said that the issue has saddened every Pakistani and now become a national issue for all.
Rana Sana urged human rights organizations to pay attention to the unjustified situation of Afia Siddique and assured her that the incumbent government would write a letter to the authorities in the US regarding her imprisonment and the unfair sentence of 86 years in prison.
Regarding the demand for decreasing petroleum prices, the minister added that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar briefed the TLP negotiators about how to determine the prices and assured them to decrease petrol prices as per the procedure.
The TLP leader appreciated the current government for avoiding confrontation, unlike its predecessor.
