BRUSSELS: High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Josep Borrell has said the European bloc respects Kazakhstan’s commitment to the UN Charter.

The European Union respects the commitment of Kazakhstan to the UN Charter and rule-based international order, asking the country to use its potential to end global conflicts. “When I first took office, the EU-Kazakhstan Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement was not yet fully in effect. Now after almost five years, it’s well underway,” said Josep Borrell during a press conference after his meeting with Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu.

He said it is obvious that the agreement is benefiting citizens and businesses of both sides. The EU is the biggest trade partner of Kazakhstan and the major foreign investor in the Kazakh economy.

According to Josep Borrell, the EU and Kazakhstan need to strengthen the business climate so that companies benefit from new opportunities for economic cooperation.
