ISLAMABAD: Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal on Saturday suspended Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan’s non-bailable arrest warrants in the Toshakhana case after an hours-long drama at the Islamabad Judicial Complex.

The sessions judge adjourned the hearing till March 30, told the parties in the case that arguments would take place during the next hearing, and ordered Khan to ensure his presence.

Before the possible appearance of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case, the Islamabad Judicial Complex has been sealed with containers around it, and the entry of journalists into the court premises has also been banned.

Any possible access routes to the court have been blocked by placing more blocks in the judicial complex. The police and administration on the spot have prevented lawyers and journalists from entering the judicial complex.

SP Police Dr. Sami Malik gave a statement on his return to court that I was stopped behind by Imran Khan’s car, and the file was not given to me.

Khawaja Haris requested the court to record the SP’s statement saying that he was lying. They are not conscious. Imran Khan’s lawyer Gohar Ali Khan said that the file was given to the SP after taking the signature.

Judge Zafar Iqbal said that Gohar Sahib came from the car with the file to give an affidavit. The court said that they would take the statements of Gohar Ali Khan, Shibli Faraz, and SP Doctor Sami and look into the issue of the missing order sheet.

PTI workers clashed with police and law enforcement agencies and caused damage to public property, forcing the security officials to briefly detain Imran Khan’s Chief of Staff, Shibli Faraz.

Imran Khan arrived at the Islamabad Judicial Complex, where he was scheduled to appear before a court in the Toshakhana case, but he left the premises due to the tense situation.

The PTI chief’s convoy also faced several hurdles on its way from Lahore to Islamabad.

In line with PTI’s insistence that Imran Khan’s life is in danger and he requires security, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Noorul Amin Mengal shifted the hearing from F-8 Court Complex to the Islamabad Judicial Complex in sector G-11 as a “one-time dispensation”.

Ahead of Imran Khan’s arrival at Islamabad’s Judicial Complex, the venue was put on high security to ensure a law and order situation and avoid any untoward situations.
