LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has been arrested from his Lahore’s Zaman Park residence following his conviction from Islamabad’s District and Sessions court in the Toshakhana reference earlier in the day.
According to reports, Khan is being shifted to Islamabad. Police was already present outside the residence given the expected sentence.
The district and sessions court sentenced the former prime minister to three years in prison. Rejecting Khan’s petition seeking inadmissibility of the case, Judge Humayun Dilawar sentenced the former prime minister.
“Charges of misdeclaration of assets have been proven against PTI chairman,” the Additional and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar mentioned in his judgment.
He also imposed a fine of Rs100,000, while issuing his arrest warrant.
The trial court had summoned Imran Khan in his personal capacity today for a hearing in the Toshakhana case after the high court rejected his pleas challenging the maintainability order.
