WASHINGTON: US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen recently tested positive for COVID-19 after showing symptoms, according to Treasury spokesperson Lily Adams.

Despite the diagnosis, Yellen is continuing her work from home, the official said. Adams noted in an emailed statement that Yellen will remain working remotely until she is able to return to the Treasury offices.

Yellen, who is 78, had just returned to Washington on Saturday from a three-day trip to Raleigh, North Carolina, and Austin, Texas. During the trip, she was promoting the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act and its investments in clean energy and the Internal Revenue Service.
