WASHINGTON: Republican presidential contester Nikki Haley on Sunday blasted Donald Trump for bullying his way to the party’s presidential nomination.

The sole remaining challenger to Trump blamed the party leadership of trying to declare the former president as the nominee prematurely.

Haley, who has already lost the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary has vowed to stay in the race, despite Trump’s insistence, backed by some top Republican Party leaders.

Haley while talking to media said that Trump can’t bully his way through the nomination.

She noted that the nominating process was still in its earliest phases and Republicans have voted only in Iowa and New Hampshire so far.

She said that Trump had pressured the Republican National Committee (RNC) to back him much too soon. Haley strong believed that Trump cannot be declared final presidential nominee of the party on the result of just two states.

Haley not happy with RNC

The former South Carolina governor is not happy with the RNC for throwing the national party’s support – behind Trump soon after the New Hampshire vote.

RNC chair Ronna McDaniel earlier said that the party needs to be united around its eventual nominee, which is going to be Donald Trump.

Haley noted that as 48 states yet to vote, so the RNC cannot take a final decision.

She is likely to stay in the race at least until so-called Super Tuesday on March 5, when voters in 16 states cast ballots.

The next Republican primary would take place in Haley’s home state of South Carolina, on February 24. However, the most Republican lawmakers have thrown their weight behind Trump, and polls suggest that he could defeat the former governor by a big margin.

Haley rejected media reports that she might be staying in the race in hopes that Trump’s could be disqualified by the courts to contest the elections.
