ISLAMABAD: Indian media and politicians, without verification, propagated false propaganda against Pakistan that, in a grave violation of ‘Maryada,’ it hosted a party inside the Kartarpur corridor where alcohol and meat were served.
On the night of November 18, a video circulating on social media stirred up controversy by suggesting that a party involving meat and alcohol occurred near Kartarpur Gurdwara in Pakistan.
Without verification, Indian media and politicians, as usual, stated false propaganda against Pakistan; however, when the truth emerged, they faced backlash for spreading misinformation.
Indian Media condemned the Project Management Unit (PMU) for this party, which took place about 2 kilometers away from Gurudwara Darbar Sahib in the Project Management Unit (PMU) complex.
Indian Media doctored the video as no alcohol was offered in the reception, which was held to deliberate on the speedy work of 2nd phase of the Kartarpur Project.
The propaganda by the Indian side could not stand long as the Speaker of the Indian Punjab Assembly, Kultar Singh Sandhwa, visited the Gurdwara Kartarpur after the Indian propaganda and met with Gobind Singh, the head granthi (spiritual leader) of Gurdwara Kartarpur to get a clear picture.
Referring to the matter, Head Granthi Gobind Singh stated that “negative propaganda is being circulated on social media, claiming that the Project Management Unit (PMU) has disrespected Gurdwara Sahib and served alcohol.”
He clarified that the dinner party was organized two kilometers away from Gurdwara Sahib, where PMU officials and staff reside.
Furthermore, in a statement issued by the Kartarpur Roadway Project Management Unit, confirmation of the organization of the said party was provided. It was stated that several officials from various key government agencies of Narowal district, including district administration, police, Pakistan Rangers, Tourism Police, Highway Police, and the Information Department, participated in the dinner party.
The unit’s statement also clarified that this dinner party’s purpose was to enhance communication and cooperation among all relevant authorities for Phase 2 of the Kartarpur project.
According to the statement released by the unit, “DC Narowal and other relevant authorities have expressed a firm commitment to providing full cooperation for the further development of Kartarpur and the promotion of religious tourism.”
The DC emphasized that the progress of Kartarpur and religious tourism will play a significant role in the social and economic development of Narowal district and the country.
