Tunisia Opens Consulate in Peshawar to Promote Pak-Africa Trade, Tourism.

PESHAWAR: The government of Tunisia has opened its honorary consulate here in Peshawar Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to promote bilateral trade and Tourism between Pakistan and African countries.

Ammad Rasheed, the honorary Consul General of Tunisia announced this on Thursday while adding that they have set up a consulate and began operations in the provincial capital with a vision of exploring the potential of trade and commerce offered by the government of Tunisia which serves as a gateway to African and European countries.

Taking to a group of media persons at a reception he hosted, Ammad Rasheed said that Tunisia has a key geographical location with great potential for trade.

“Our country serves as a bridge between Europe and African strap and therefore offers a golden opportunity of trade and commerce that needs proper attention,” Ammad told the journalists.

Pak-Africa Trade and Tourism

He added that Pakistani businessmen could take advantage of both the markets of Europe and African countries while having a focus on Tunisia, as most of the tourists visiting Tunisia belong to Europe and by providing products in Tunisia markets, Pakistan traders can also expand their business to European counties.

He remarked that his country has not been explored by Pakistani businessmen and remained an untouched market of the African belt while adding that both countries can grow their mutual trade in the field of tourism, sports goods, gemstones, and olive oil.

Ammad Rasheed further added that he is planning to take a delegation of businessmen from Pakistan in general and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular to Tunisia to get awareness about the business potential and Tourism between the two countries.

The honorary Consul General said that tackle the ongoing situation of economic recession, it is important that the businessmen should explore new markets and Tunisia is one such good choice where trade does not require as many strict SOPs as they are in Europe and other countries.

He added that we have recently opened an honorary consulate of Tunisia in Lahore while the one in Karachi is operational for the last several years.
