ISTANBUL: Turkish Airlines deferred its flights to Iran on Friday night due to the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel, Turkiye’s media reported.

According to Turkiye’s official news agency Anadolu Turkish Airlines postponed its flights to Iran without giving any more details.  It added that the flights planned to different Iranian cities would resume starting Saturday. However, Turkish Airlines did not issue any statement over the matter.

Earlier, France urged its citizens visiting Iran to leave immediately. In a statement, French Foreign Ministry said that visiting French nationals still in Iran are invited to leave as soon as possible due to the increased risk of a military escalation in the region.

Arab news cited Reuters news agency as saying that Lufthansa Group had also canceled all its flights to and from Tel Aviv with immediate effect through Aug. 8. The spokesperson said that they did the decision due to current regional development.  It further added that the group also extended a halt on its flights to and from Beirut through Aug. 12.
