ISTANBUL: Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca held a crucial meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, in Cairo on Wednesday, focusing on providing aid to Gaza and facilitating the transfer of cancer patients to Turkey.

Minister Koca, who arrived in the Egyptian capital earlier in the day, was warmly received by Abdel Ghaffar and other officials. The meeting comes on the heels of phone conversations between Minister Koca and his Israeli and Egyptian counterparts last week, aiming to coordinate the transfer of patients from the besieged Palestinian enclave through the Rafah border crossing.

Turkey Taking Proactive Steps for Relief in Gaza

In response to the dire humanitarian situation resulting from the Israeli military violence since the October 7, Turkey has taken proactive steps. The country has delivered substantial aid equipment, including medicine, medical devices, ambulances, and medical supplies, to address the pressing needs of the people in Gaza.

The collaboration has led to the formation of a coordination team to ensure efficient aid delivery and patient transfers from Gaza amid Israeli brutalities. The initiative reflects a concerted regional response to the urgent health challenges faced by the residents of Gaza.
