ANKARA, Turkiye: Turkiye’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Israel’s recent law banning the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) from operating within Israel, calling it a clear violation of international law.

Turkiye argued that the ban undermines the agency’s essential humanitarian role, which includes supporting displaced Palestinians and working toward a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The ministry emphasized that UNRWA, established by a UN General Assembly resolution, provides critical services to Palestinian refugees and called on the international community to oppose the ban.

As Chair of the UNRWA Financing Working Group, Turkiye pledged ongoing political and financial support for the agency. Turkey’s statement came alongside broader criticisms of Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon, with Turkish officials calling for international interventions to halt Israeli military actions. Turkiye has cut trade ties with Israel and recently applied to join a genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, positioning itself as a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights on the world stage.
