ANKARA: In a nationwide operation named “Operation Heroes-34,” Turkish authorities have arrested 304 individuals across 32 provinces on suspicion of having ties to the militant group Daesh.

According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, the majority of the arrests occurred in Turkiye’s three largest cities—Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir. Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s commitment to preventing terrorist activities and ensuring the peace and unity of the people.

The operations, depicted in footage shared by the minister, involved police entering buildings and apprehending suspects. Despite Daesh’s territorial losses, the group continues to carry out insurgent attacks, including incidents in Turkiye.

The country has intensified efforts against both Daesh and Kurdish militants in response to recent attacks. Operations are regularly conducted against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which Turkiye designates as a terrorist organization.
