Turkmenistan, Pakistan for Enhanced Parliamentary Cooperation

ASHGABAT: Turkmenistan and Pakistan have discussed ways to further enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation, Trend news agency reported.

According to an official source, these issues came under discussion during a meeting of the Speaker of the Parliament of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova and the Ambassador of Pakistan in Ashgabat Ahsan Wagan.

The two sides exchanged views on the development of parliamentary cooperation on a bilateral basis between Pakistan and Turkmenistan.

They added that the regular organization of meetings and meetings of relevant committees, women’s and youth parliamentary groups within the framework of global parliamentary organizations, as well as on a bilateral and regional basis, provides a favorable conditions for the exchange of experience in the area of legislative activity.

The ambassador discussed the effective development of interstate and international cooperation, the ongoing reforms in Turkmenistan, and the significance of the events organized in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen writer Mahtumkulu Firaki.

Meanwhile, the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, particularly in the field of inter-parliamentary cooperation, plays a major role in strengthening diplomatic ties and exchanging experience in the legislative sphere.

Boosting interparliamentary cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan contributes not only to strengthening cooperation at the state level, but also provides a basis for the development of multifaceted strategic partnerships that contribute to the progress and stability and of Central Asia and South Asia.
