Turkmenistan’s President Attends Second Central Asia–Germany Summit

ASTANA: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov attends the second meeting of the heads of Central Asian states with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Astana.

According to local media, by successfully implementing the peacekeeping foreign policy strategy initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, and worthily continued by the incumbent President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, neutral Turkmenistan has consistently showed resolve to constructive global dialogue, which contributes to addressing key tasks of international development as well as building trust-based cooperation in the common interests.

A high-level delegation of Turkmenistan attends the current multilateral meeting “Central Asia+Germany” the agenda of which covers a wide range of matters. This is another confirmation of the central Asian country’s commitment.

The first summit of the heads of State of Central Asia and Germany in the 5+1 format in Berlin was held in September 2023, marked the start of close cooperation in this format, at which five Central Asian nations expressed their readiness to set up a strategic partnership with Germany in the interests of peace and sustainable development.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who attended that historic meeting, who stood at the origins of the exceptionally productive Turkmen-German cooperation, stressed that Turkmenistan warmly welcomes the initiative to create a new multilateral format and is ready to extend cooperation in all sectors of mutual interest.

Local media reported that today Germany is one of the key economic partners of Turkmenistan in Europe, as clearly evidenced by the established fruitful contacts with the largest German firms, regular business meetings and business forums, effective activities of the Joint Turkmen-German Working Group.

Before the start of the high-level meeting, the President of Turkmenistan held various meetings, including with the German leader and chiefs of well-known German firms.

The summit, which was chaired by President of Kazakhstan, was also attended by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, President of the Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of the Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of the Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
