ISLAMABAD: A monkey was caught on camera pacing up and down on the edge of the rooftop of Pakistan’s Parliament House building in Islamabad, causing a stir on social media. The video was posted on Twitter by a journalist and quickly went viral, with Twitter users making hilarious comments about the incident.
The monkey, which belongs to the Rhesus Macaque species, is abundant in the woods and bushes of Islamabad. They are one of the oldest species of monkeys and are native to southeast, south, and central Asia. Their coat is usually brownish in colour, and the faces of adults are pink while the rest of the body has light brown fur.

Animals’ entry into Parliament House
This is not the first time an animal has caused chaos in Parliament House. On April 18, an Indian civet cat broke into the building, causing damage to several office items. The cat managed to find its way into the office of Additional Secretary Senate Hafeezullah Sheikh, where it roamed around and caused destruction.
The incidents have led to calls for better security measures to be put in place at Parliament House to prevent animals from entering the building. Meanwhile, the video of the monkey scaling Parliament House has become a hilarious meme on social media, with Twitter users targeting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ata Tarar, and others in their comments.
Despite the light-hearted nature of the response, the incidents serve as a reminder of the need for increased security measures at important government buildings.
